When is Boxing Day 2026? + Free Typical (Large Feast 8-20) Menu

Starter Course

Potted Christmas Ham Rillettes with Ale Mustard and Piccalilli

Christmas ham hand-shredded and worked with butter, malty ale mustard, and a whisper of mace into a silk-rich potted rillette, ringed with electric piccalilli, snappy cornichons, and doorstop slices of toasted farmhouse bread.

Main Feast Piece

Maple-Mustard Cold Gammon, Deep Turkey-and-Ham Pie, and Golden Bubble and Squeak

The great Boxing Day graze in full: cold gammon lacquered in a sticky maple-mustard glaze, a deep turkey-and-ham pie with a shattering flaky crust, and bubble and squeak fried to a golden crunch, with chutneys and pickled onions alongside.

Sweet Confection

Proper Sherry Trifle with Christmas Cake

The full Victorian works: sherry-drowned sponge, macerated raspberries, rivers of vanilla custard, and billows of softly whipped cream under flaked toasted almonds, with slices of boozy Christmas cake and brandy butter on the side.

Accompanying Sides

Crisp Goose-Fat Roast Potatoes

No Boxing Day table is complete without them: floury Maris Piper potatoes roasted shatteringly crisp in goose fat with rosemary and flaky sea salt, made for mopping up cold gammon juices.

Slow-Braised Red Cabbage with Bramley Apple and Cloves

Shredded red cabbage braised low and slow with tart Bramley apple, brown sugar, and cloves until ruby-dark and meltingly tender - the sweet-sour foil every rich plate needs.

Boxing Day Winter Slaw

A bright, crunchy counterpoint to the day-after richness: shredded cabbage and carrot with crisp apple and toasted walnuts in a sharp Dijon and lemon dressing.
